Amazon Careers & Interviews

Amazon’s interview process is arguably the most rigid and behavioral-heavy in the tech industry, built entirely around their 16 Leadership Principles (LPs). Unlike Google or Meta, which index heavily on abstract cognitive ability, Amazon optimizes for hyper-pragmatism, data-driven execution, and an obsession with the customer. Every single question you are asked will map directly to one or two LPs. The cornerstone of the process is the 'Bar Raiser'—an independent interviewer outside the hiring team whose sole job is to ensure you are better than 50% of the current employees at that level. They demand the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for all answers, explicitly looking for hard data/metrics in the 'Result' section and ownership in the 'Action' section (using 'I' instead of 'We').
